Introducing the RUAS Assistant Steward Programme – Launching 2026

The Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) is committed to enhancing the membership and volunteering experience across all areas of our organisation.

As part of the "People" element of our Strategic Plan, we have identified an exciting opportunity to welcome and support new volunteers into stewarding roles at our Society Shows.

The Assistant Steward Programme is designed specifically for individuals who are new to stewarding or have limited experience. This new role will offer a supportive introduction to stewarding, ensuring participants feel confident and informed as they begin their journey with the RUAS.

The onboarding process will begin with a one-day induction, where participants will:

  • Learn more about the RUAS and its proud heritage
  • Gain insight into the stewarding role and core responsibilities
  • Hear first-hand experiences from current Chief Stewards
  • Get a true flavour of what it means to be part of the stewarding team

In addition, participants will benefit from an in-house Stewarding Information Evening, where you'll meet other participants, network with experienced stewards, and prepare for your first Show experience.

If you are over 18 years old, a current RUAS member, and have the enthusiasm and commitment to get involved, we would love to hear from you.
