Presidential Perspectives

From challenges to triumphs and growth to innovation, the RUAS has evolved over the years thanks to it's dedicated leaders and knowledgeable members. In this mini video series we're getting to know more out our past presidents, how the Society has grown over recent years and still continues to support our local agri-food industry.

First up we have Margaret Collinson OBE. Margaret was president of the RUAS from February 2000 to February 2003 and was instated as the first female president of the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society.

Her tenure saw the charity face one of it's greatest challenges in years as Foot and Mouth spread across the UK and Ireland in 2001. With the subsequent cancellation of the 2001 Balmoral Show, a royal visit in 2002 and discussions about moving away from the King's Hall becoming more and more in depth, Margaret had plenty to tell us about. Here's Margaret's story.
