At the heart of the RUAS Strategic Plan is a commitment to our people — especially to creating a more rewarding and meaningful experience for volunteers.
Back in November 2024, we were delighted to host the first Volunteer Working Group meeting. This small but dedicated team of Society members came together to discuss all aspects of volunteering and to establish developmental steps aligned with the key priorities detailed in the Strategic Plan.
With the valuable insights gained through surveys and member feedback, we have already made significant progress. Thanks to this collaborative effort, we are now ready to move forward into the second phase of the volunteer development journey.
The next steps will include the launch of a new Stewarding section on the RUAS website and the delivery of a new Assistant Steward Induction Programme, which will provide first time volunteers with a warm welcome and the tools they need to thrive in their roles. If you or someone you know would like to embrace a stewarding role, please complete the Expression of Interest Form.

We are also thrilled to announce the Society’s participation in Investing in Volunteers (IiV), as we embark on a 12-month programme commencing in January 2026, aimed at achieving IiV Accreditation. This is a significant milestone that reflects the Society’s ongoing commitment to valuing, supporting, and celebrating the contributions of every volunteer.
Our members and volunteers are the beating heart of the Society — the driving force behind the success, and the spirit that brings events and initiatives to life. We are deeply grateful for your continued enthusiasm, time, and passion — without them, none of this would be possible.
