At the heart of the RUAS Strategic Plan is a commitment to our people — especially to creating a more rewarding and meaningful experience for volunteers.
Back in November 2024, a Volunteer Working Group was established to guide the Society as it reviewed all aspects of Volunteering within the Strategic Plan.
With the valuable insights gained through surveys and member feedback, we have already made significant progress. Thanks to this collaborative effort, we are now ready to move forward into the second phase of the volunteer development journey.
The next steps will include the launch of a new Stewarding section of the RUAS website and the delivery of a new Assistant Steward Induction Programme, which will provide emerging volunteers with a warm welcome and the tools they need to thrive in their roles. We are also thrilled to announce the Society is about to embark on a 12-month programme commencing in January 2026, to update procedures and systems in the hope of supporting and celebrating the contributions of every volunteer.
Our members and volunteers are the beating heart of the Society — the driving force behind the success, and the spirit that brings events and initiatives to life. We are deeply grateful for your continued enthusiasm, time, and passion — without them, none of this would be possible.
