On Friday 8th March 2024, RUAS President John Henning OBE presented a prestigious Long Service Award in memory of the late Austin Perry to his brother, David Perry.
Austin, who sadly passed away in 2023, joined the Society on 31 March 1972. This Silver Society Award was bestowed in recognition of his 43 years of service as a steward for the RUAS from 1976 to 2019.
From an early age, he exhibited at the Balmoral Show and took pride in showing his Dairy Shorthorn and Simmental cattle. In 1977 Austin was appointed to Council and became a Vice President in 2005. Over the years, he held the role of Chairman for both the Show Safety Committee and Cattle Committee.
